New Quilt in the Works...

I belong to the Chicago Quilters Guild, and they are going to be sponsoring a Quilt Show in May.  They have asked all the members of the guild to try and at least display a quilt of their own.  I have not made many quilts, and honestly don't have any here that are quilt show worthy, so I set out on a task to make a new quilt especially for the show!  I told my husband about what I wanted to do, and I have some fabrics picked out that I think I would like to use.  And well he comes back to me and says, "I know the perfect quilt you can make with those fabrics!".  I said cool, what do you have in mind?  He said, "Applique" something!  LOL... Well, he went to work, and started sketching out a quilt and we went back and forth on emails, and finally decided on a picture he found on the net.  Now, I don't know how to go about using that picture, I know that copyrights are all over the place, so I'm going to try and do something similar! Here is what he chose:

I know this is not going to be an easy task, and I only have 2 months to do this.  So, tomorrow I will go shopping for some additional fabrics in hopes that I can create something equally beautiful!

Sunday Morning

Good Morning, it's January 31st, and my birthday passed, and well, it was not one to brag about.  Didn't do anything, didn't get anything, can't even spend anything!  LOL.  Oh Well, what can you do.

My mom called this morning, and told me my Dad fell at 1:30 this morning when he tried to get out of bed while he was asleep at the hospital.  He's got a cut above his eye, and since he's on coumadin he bled ALOT, and now looks like someone hit him with a bat or something b/c of all the bruising.  I will go see him a little later, have to run a few errands here at home, and get some more laundry done.  My son is FINALLY going back to school.  He's been on 'break' since December 19th.  He's in an all year round school, and he went on Christmas break on the 19th, and then on the 1st of January started his "break" of one month.  So he goes back on Feb 2nd, I love him dearly but I need him to go back to school!!!!  So I have to get all his uniforms in order, get the afternoon snacks back in the house, and all that good stuff.

I really want to get back into my sewing, but having so much on my plate with my dad still in the hospital, the back and fourth taking my mom to and from, and just the daily happenings here at home, have me pooped!  I wish I could find the extra time to just get to cut some fabric.

I leaned of a new Applique BOM from Morning Glory Designs.   I haven't done much of applique, but this looks so beautiful, that I just might try it.  It's only one block a month, so I'm assuming that I can do that in little spurts here and there.  I just need to get to the fabric store to buy all my fabrics.  :-)

Well, off to run some errands.  You all have a good day!  ;-)

Update

Update:  He was not able to have the procedure.  He had complications, and now is Unable to even talk.  My mom is waiting for the Doc to come and talk to them to tell them what is it that happened in the cath Lab.

Rough Week

It's been a pretty rough week.  My Dad was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday (January 19th) and he's still there.  He's been having trouble breathing, and heart problems.  He suffered a stroke on Thursday, and things have not been looking good since.   Today he's having yet another procedure called TransEsophageal Echo or TEE for short. My mom is there with him now, and I so wish I could be there, but have to be at home with my little ones.  I'm hoping and praying that all goes well.  And he starts to improve.  I am going to try and cut some fabric today, need to take my mind off of all that is going on.  I will be back hopefully soon with something to show!  Have a great day!

No Sew Swap Block

This is my completed block.  I think it came out okay, but now am wondering if I should of used a different "Pink".  It's too blah for me, but I guess I can't do anything about it now.
I joined a No Sew Swap from Kathleen's blog, and this is going to be my block:

The name is Tulip Lady Fingers it's the Pink/Green/White group #4, I will sew my block today and post a picture to give you all an idea of what it will look like.  :-)
